The new quote was for a premium of 2500 pounds with an excess of 2500 pounds for the Red Sea and 10,0 ...

Noonsite: information from Blue Water Rally experience 2009
Here's the article, which goes into detail about what happened to them in March 2009 and gives some useful information.

Wed, 4 Mar 2009

For yachts wishing to reach the Mediterranean from Asia, it's a vexed question - round the Cape of Good Hope, which normally then involves crossing the Atlantic twice to catch prevailing winds? - or through pirate infested Gulf of Aden? For those who decide on the Gulf of Aden, there is some good news back from the Gulf.

Early on the 24th February the l ...
Equipment and weather should be split!
Can I suggest that equipment and weather be split into two  separate threads? They're both big subjects!

There seem to be various opinions about the best time to cross from Aden to Sri Lanka and on to Thailand/Malaysia.
I'm sure Heikell's Indian Ocean guide recommends Aden to Ceylon in January, then Ceylon to Thailand in February. This will be on the wind but into the light NE monsoon with relatively flat seas I understand.
The VdG rally leaves Oman in late March which would mean continuing to Thailand in late April which seems to encroaching the early cyclone season.
I'm sure I read about an OZ ...

See http://myca.org.uk/node/6670 for more information.
