What's the deal with gas throughout the Red Sea and beyond? Can I use the euro bottles? Should I be carrying more than 6 weeks worth?

jamie, from what we have found out so far, the best thing is to get re-fillable bottles and fill them in egypt. you won't find gas again until Aden is what we heard from people who made the north bound journey.
so, you need gas for however long you plan to take to get from Abu Thig to Aden.
if you have room, you could get one of the big 13kg Turkish bottles (around 70ytl in bottle) we got one in november and reckon it will last 6 months. when it's empty as it can't be refilled, just ditch it. we got one for the winter and don't have room to take it with us when we will then revert to our two kiwi bottles which each have gas for about two months each.
if you can find room for a big turkish one, i think that is the way to go. otherwise, get re-fillables if you can.
camping gas is a problem to get. |

Are you saying camping gas bottles cannot be refilled in Aden?
I rather assumed the gas shops had adaptors for every bottle!
